Carlos Drummond De Andrade was a famous poet who was born in Minas Gerais. Currently, the airport is operated by Infraero which is responsible for operations of Brazil Airport. Belo Horizonte is translated to Beautiful Horizon. It is the sixth-largest city in Brazil. It has a population of about 2.5 million people. Bela Horizonte Airport or Pampulha Airport opened its doors in 1933. It served as a support facility to the flights being operated by Brazilian Airforce. The flights are from Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. The first commercial flight happened in 1936 between Belo Horizonte and Rio De Janeiro. Joao Monlevade and Lagoa dos Ingleses are some of the notable cities surrounding the airfield.
