Best Time to Visit
The Addis Ababa Bole International Airport operates under the airport code of ADD. The ADD Airport was formerly known as Haile Selassie I International Airport. The airport was first constructed in 1960 when the airport runway at Lidetta was extremely short. It wasn’t until December of 1962 that the new runway as well as the control tower was functional. In 1997 and the years after, the airport has had several expansions, the most significant of which was the one in 2003 when the new international passenger terminal was opened. It became one of the largest airport terminals in Africa. Currently, the airport has two terminals, with Terminal 1 serving domestic and regional flights and Terminal 2 serving international flights. Travelers from Sululta and Debre Zeyit also find the ADD Airport their preferred hub for travels.
