    Pros: Gazing afar from a foggy morning, hill club is like a beautiful myserious garden worth to explore, while inside it keeps the colonial traditions. It was my best choice for the whole trip to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival, you will have a guided tour by one of the oldest employee telling the stories and history of this legacy from the 1800's. It boasts a well-manicured front lawn, a billiards room, and a library adorned with leather-bound volumes, showcasing the interests and pastimes of previous members. And they have the best reception team ever! Hello to the gentlemen who just came back to hometown from the middle-east. I wish you the most prosperous future with The Hill Club. In addition, I lost my pair of wedges while rushing for checking out. I got them back in the second day! They sent them over through the bus that commute in between Nuwara Eliya and Colombo making sure I will get them before my international departure , which the mail system wont' work at all. Millions of thanks again!! I will definately go back and visit The Hill Club again. Best, Junjun

    The most enjoyable stay in Sri Lanka

    Pros: Beautiful garden, helpful stuff. Provides good accommodation for driver as well. So thoughtful with the thermal bag.

    Disappointing - noisy room, ruined laundry, rude staff

    Pros: A hotel with character. Good location near the Grand Hotel, which I think it is a lot nicer. An 'interesting' experience. Comfortable room but noisy.
    Cons: The laundry ruined several pieces of my clothing and I spent half the stay trying to seek adequate compensation from the staff and general manager (finally succeeded when legal action threatened). Some staff are very pleasant but several are intrusive when guests are eating (clearing crumbs off the table and trying to move my bag without asking) or just not doing a very efficient job (no toiletries or fresh toilet paper provided two nights in a row). My tuk tuk driver told me the guy who came to fix my safe described me in a very disrespectful way in Tamil when I was leaving and asked the driver where I was going (thankfully, we had become friendly and he didn't tell him but he did tell him off!). Not acceptable. I asked for a quiet room and was positioned over the noisy boiler room. Stiff and stuffy. I wouldn't stay here again. Expensive for what it offers too.

    Pros: It's an expectional historical place. Absolutely deserves a visit. It feels like a posh club in the UK country side with very friendly and west mannered personnel. The interior and exterior of this club is a museum itself and way better in person. They should reupload the photos It might feel alittle brutal as it's been men only club and haven't had nwomen attention for a while. Otherwise, its outstanding!

    Pros: The garden and the surrounding was breathtaking. Staff are very courteous and friendly.
    Cons: General upgrade needed. They only have a formal restaurant that needs guests to dress formally. The alternate restaurant was closed which wS very inconvenient. The prices for the stay and room service did not match the value.

    Not bad for the history.

    Pros: Dinner is good but have no menu ,only set for u
    Cons: maybe service. They always have the full rooms status , and they will give you the staff rooms where are out of the mean building and they will tell you that its the part of the hotel. You only need to walk 3mins to the main building. actually its not good feeling to me although We change the room. we hope that u guys will check in the right rooms inside.

    Unique experience

    Pros: Wow what a unique experience. To be able to stay in such a historical venue was something totally out of the ordinary. It felt like stepping back in time and we liked every minute. From the high tea in the afternoon to a visit of their vegetable garden to the formal attire during dinner every thing was unique and interesting. The landscaping and flower gardens are unbelievable. We stayed in the new section and our room was super comfortable.
