Servicing guests from the United States, Mexico, Canada and Honduras, La Quinta Inns & Suites started with humble beginnings in 1968 during the HemisFair also known as the San Antonio Texas World’s Fair. Founded and built by entrepreneur Sam and Phil Bharshop, they built the La Quinta Inn or the “The Country Villa Inn” and later on became the first hotel under the successful brand La Quinta Inn & Suites.

The first ever La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in San Antonio, Texas also served as the headquarters of the brand. It was later on relocated to Irving, Texas in 1999. In 2005, LQ Corporation, the company behind the La Quinta hotel brands agreed to be acquired by the Blackstone Group for a whopping $3.4 billion, both in cash and in debt. The merger materialized and was completed in January of 2006.

At present, company and franchised hotels under the La Quinta Inn & Suites are consisted of more than 87,500 rooms, around 890 properties in total located in different locations in all the 48 states in the United States. My stay was pleasant until...

Pros: Breakfast was nice. I was in one of the renovated rooms, which was nice.

Cons: The staff was so rude and mean. I am a bubbly person but I avoided them at all costs. They kept implying upon my check-in that I smoke (I do not). If you smoke outside you must air out and spray yourself or they will keep you deposit. I was told my cash deposit would be given back after they checked the room.....they didn't even check. There was no microwave in the renovated room but there was a place for it. Then there is a nice shower but no where to place your soap while you wash. I found a side door to use so I would not have to talk to them. I extended my stay for almost an extra week and they were giving me a hard time with that....wanting another deposit when I gave them cash. They were nice to the men...perhaps a culture thing. Loved the room but doubt I will return due to the staff being so rude.

Cons: I forgot some items, including medication in the room fridge. By the time I sent someone to pick them for me, I was told they had trashed them. The medication alone cost over 300 USD for one. I believe the hotel should have a “left items” corner for non-perishable items which they can keep for a day or two with the hope that the guest may return to pickup.

For the amount of time...

Pros: I liked the comforter, made sleeping a lot easier. I liked the extra set of locks on the inside of the room for added protection and that the room was soundproof so I didn’t hear anything for anyone else’s room.

Cons: Bed sheet had multiple stains. The fridge had a living roach inside and once I killed it, days went by before it got cleaned up. The bathroom tub was never cleaned during my stay. The tv didn’t allow you to know what you are watching just the channel number.

Cons: Under remodel. The updated room was good except air conditioning did not get cool enough. Shower was warm at best. Elevator was very dirty and scary.

Pros: Nothing. When we showed up. We were denied to even stay in our room. Even after already paying for it. Because we did have enough for a deposit. This hotel has never charged me a deposit.
